What we do
Alimony Calculated provides free spousal support and alimony estimates for all 50 U.S. states. We apply statutory formulas where they exist, cap and eligibility logic where the law requires it, and a clearly labeled benchmark range where judges exercise full discretion.
We built this because alimony statutes are genuinely complex — and most online calculators either pretend every state has the same formula (it doesn't) or give a single number with no explanation of where it came from. We do neither.
Our approach
- Honest labeling: Every result carries a badge that tells you exactly how much legal weight the estimate carries — from "Statutory guideline" to "Benchmark only."
- State-specific accuracy: New York and Illinois get their actual mandatory formulas. Texas and Florida get their eligibility gates and hard caps. Every other state gets a clearly labeled range, not a fake formula.
- Privacy by design: Your income figures never leave your browser. No server round-trips, no data stored.
- No fake precision: We do not pretend a benchmark is a court order. The plain-language note on every result explains what the number means and what it doesn't.
Who should use this tool
Anyone who wants to understand the approximate financial landscape of their situation before meeting with a family law attorney. A ballpark estimate helps you ask better questions and understand the attorney's answer — it does not replace the attorney.
