North Carolina Alimony Calculator
North Carolina has one of the most distinctive alimony frameworks in the country. Under N.C.G.S. §50-16.3A, marital sexual misconduct directly determines alimony entitlement: if the supporting spouse committed illicit sexual behavior, alimony is mandatory; if the dependent spouse did, it is barred. The amount and duration are then set by the court using a 16-factor analysis.

Post-separation support (PSS) is temporary alimony paid during the period of separation before the divorce is final. It is governed by §50-16.2A and is based on financial need and the payor's ability to pay. PSS ends when a final alimony order is entered or the divorce is denied.
